RABBI SHMUEL ZILBER
Head of School / Menahel
Rabbi Shmuel Zilber is the Head of School / Menahel of Tiferes Bais Yaakov. A highly respected Mechanech and community leader, Rabbi Zilber brings experience, leadership, and knowledge to Tiferes Bais Yaakov. Rabbi Zilber combines passion and skill to help adapt the best Chinuch strategies for the current generation of students. Rabbi Zilber spent 12 years at Yeshiva Darchei Torah of Toronto, where in addition to teaching and mentoring High School students, he was responsible for the school recruitment and admissions. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Rabbi Zilber attended Yeshivas Toras Moshe in Yerushalayim, and continued his Rabbinical studies at Beth Medrash Govoha of Lakewood. Rabbi Zilber and his family moved to Ottawa, Canada in 2003. He served as a member of the Kollel, forging relationships with many people through his lectures, learning, outreach, and mentoring. Rabbi Zilber settled in Toronto in 2007 and continues to make an impact on the students and the Chinuch landscape of our community.

MRS. LIAT GARELICK
Limudei Kodesh Principal
Mrs. Liat Garelick brings nearly two decades of experience in chinuch, Jewish education, and leadership. Born in Eretz Yisrael and raised in Montreal, Mrs. Garelick has devoted much of her career to inspiring young women and creating meaningful opportunities for Torah learning, personal growth, and connection to Yiddishkeit.
She is the founder of The Toronto Sem, a local seminary-style learning program for young women, as well as Souled, an international learning and mentorship community. Mrs. Garelick is also well known throughout the Toronto community as a sought-after lecturer, sharing Torah and inspiration with women of all ages. Over the years, she has developed and led educational programs, taught and mentored young women, and worked closely with students and families in a wide range of chinuch settings.
Mrs. Garelick is known for her warmth, creativity, and genuine ability to connect with students. Her approach to chinuch focuses on seeing and understanding each individual, helping students recognize their unique strengths, and inspiring them to grow in Torah, middos, and their relationship with Hashem. She is passionate about helping each student develop into a confident, thoughtful, and committed Bas Yisrael.

MRS. FRAIDY SCHACHTER
General Studies Principal
Mrs. Fraidy Schachter is the General Studies Principal at Tiferes Bais Yaakov and has been an integral part of our staff since September 2017. Prior to becoming our General Studies Principal, Mrs. Schachter had more than a decade of experience teaching in various high schools in Toronto. Mrs. Schachter combines her vision and passion for education together with her care and concern for the individual to form strong bonds with her students. She has taught both Math and Science courses to all grades on various academic levels and has a strong understanding of both General Studies curriculum and Ministry requirements. Her passion for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), is evident by her B.A. in both Chemistry and Physics through York University and Yeshiva University Stern College for Women, as well as holding a Master’s degree in Physics from Hunter College, have helped her prepare her students for post-secondary success.

MR. LAWRENCE WEINBERG
Mr. Lawrence Weinberg has held the position of Executive Director at Tiferes Bais Yaakov since 2006 and oversees and administers the activities in the Finance Office. All non-educational responsibilities fall within his purview, including all fundraising activities, budgets, tuition matters, contracts, and the maintenance of the facilities. Prior to joining our school, Mr. Weinberg had over eight years of experience as Operations Manager of a local auction company. Mr. Weinberg has shared his time, talent and energy volunteering in schools, shuls, and Chessed committees in the Toronto community. He has an Honours BSc from the University of Toronto. His daughter Ariella graduated from Tiferes Bais Yaakov in 2011.
