Tiferes Bais Yaakov High School Selects New Head of School
Chinuch, Education, and leadership veteran to move school forward

Toronto, April 29, 2019 – Tiferes Bais Yaakov, The Daniel T. Gordon High School for Girls (TBY) is pleased to announce that Rabbi Shmuel Zilber has been selected as the new Head of School effective September 2019.  A highly regarded community leader, he has most recently spent 12 years at the Yeshiva Darchei Torah where, in addition to teaching, he was responsible for school recruitment and admissions.  Rabbi Zilber was unanimously chosen by the Search Committee and the full board of directors from a pool of more than 75 candidates.

“Both the Search Committee and the board itself focused on selecting a new Head of School who would bring strong leadership and be a dynamic role model to our students in an atmosphere which allows teens to gain the clarity they need to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow’s society,” noted board President, Dr. Moshe Shields.  He went on to say, “On behalf of the board of directors, I extend my gratitude to the Search Committee for their dedication to achieving our mission and selecting a remarkable leader.”

“Ensuring that Torah and Yiddishkeit are a dynamic and positive growth experience has always been the ultimate objective of TBY. It will continue to be my goal and mission to produce inspired, self-confident, and educated Bnos Yisrael, who are prepared to take on whatever challenges they encounter in the outside world,” stated incoming Head of School, Rabbi Zilber.

Following the retirement of Rabbi Feigenbaum, throughout the 2018-2019 academic year, the school was managed and led by Limudei Kodesh Principal, Mrs. Adina Ribacoff and General Studies Principal, Mrs. Polina Nagla. They were closely assisted by our Director of Student Affairs, Miss Batya Feigenbaum and General Studies Vice Principal, Mrs. Rita Drutz. The school extends its profound gratitude for the team’s terrific leadership.

“With Rabbi Zilber in place, we are certain that the chinuch of TBY will continue to academically challenge our students and inspire self-confident and successful Bnos Yisrael in a creative, positive and dynamic educational environment,” stated Dr. Shields.
