2012 Rena Shimansky and Mira Goldstein won the high-school category of JEWISH MUSIC WEEK’S ART CONTEST. They attended a reception at the Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre as part of the gallery showing of their work. The judges said the following about Rena’s painting: “…speaks to the viewer. She brings the age old approach of Jewish music to a very contemporary style… done extremely well.”And about Mira’s painting: “… the text and the image complement each other to create harmonious composition…reminiscent of illuminated manuscripts.”
